I wrote a book, I Can't Hear God Anymore: Life in a Dallas Cult. If you would like to check it out, see www.dallascult.com

You're unfortunately right Scott. See the below for more conformation. Its sad that this is happening. I don't mind preachers making a living, but this doesn't look good to the rest of the world and doesn't represent Christians well.

You are correct and I apologize for the oversight. But I guess I covered it a bit in the statement near the bottom. First of all, Christmas should be personal. It is best celebrated they way you and your family want to celebrate it.

Either way. Celebrate it with friends and family held close.

Thank you, Scott!

Actually, Christianity as portrayed is okay in my mind; it is Christianity in its practice as modified over the years that I disagree with!

Non-Biblical is okay as well, since the Christian Bible (The New Testament) came substantially after Christianity got its start.

I appreciate your kind words, Scott and I also hold you in highest regard.

Sin is sin in the eyes of God. Man ranking it is man's belief. Whether you murder or just lie, it is all the same in God's eyes.

God's ways are not our ways.

Go see Archie's blog entry HERE. It's a good read. Biblically incorrect but a good read.

For those of you that don't know, Archie's belief system and Christianity do NOT play well together. BUT...

I've corresponded with Archie over the years, was a client of his 15 years ago and I COMPLETELY and FULLY respect him and his moral standing. There is NO QUESTION. Period. His integrity stands on its own and is unquestionable in my opinion. I have the utmost respect for him.

It is irrational that all sins be categorized as being equal.

Good points! Also, don't forget 1 Corinthians 1, where Paul asks:

Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you. Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

Our true Master is Christ Jesus, who has left His Word for our study and edification. Where He draws the line between black and white, good and bad, sin and not - there is no negotiation. But where He does not, there is room for Christian charity and liberty. I think many of the divisions are based upon matters of personal preference, rather than true doctrine.

Nevertheless, we must all be careful to strive to honor our Savior in our thoughts, words, and deeds. *I* find that much easier to do when I am in fellowship at a Bible-believing, Bible-preaching church: it's far too easy to slack off when I'm out on my own. Among fellow believers, I have Christian counsel, encouragement, and godly reproof when I need it.

So, although I have very particular doctrinal requirements for a church I attend, I try to be very VERY careful to make sure that they are Biblical requirements, and not personal preference (which are not necessarily a bad thing, it's just that they ought to take second place, at best).

Anyway... Just my 2¢, hope I didn't ramble too much (darn antihistamines...! *giggle*).

Good job, Scott - now on my RSS reader under... Hm... "Buddies," or "God Squad"? LOL ;-)

[...] The entire concept of church as a function is biblically incorrect. “Church” is not a function or a building but an entity as I discussed here. [...]
